Description

C-21640

Framed oil painting depicting the Palace of Westminster and the Elizabeth Tower along the River Thames in London. Executed in a loose, atmospheric style inspired by the late works of J. M. W. Turner, the composition emphasizes light, haze, and muted earth tones rather than architectural detail. A barge drifts across the foreground while the iconic skyline emerges through mist and layered brushwork, creating an impressionistic interpretation of one of London’s most recognizable views. The work is signed “Riley” in the lower right and presented in a stained wood frame.

Shows moderate age-related wear. Canvas exhibits scattered craquelure, localized paint lifting and losses, including a larger area near the upper left skyline and another small loss near the foreground waterline. Surface displays scattered grime and age-related discoloration. Frame shows light scratches, finish wear, and minor handling marks consistent with age. Canvas remains mounted securely and is ready for display.
