Description
C-21650
Two-gallon stoneware crock produced by the Red Wing Union Stoneware Company of Red Wing, Minnesota. Features a cobalt blue capacity mark, stamped wing emblem, and oval Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. maker’s mark. The straight-sided form with rolled rim is characteristic of Red Wing utility crocks manufactured between 1906 and 1915 for household food storage and preservation.
Exhibits wear consistent with age and use. A significant crack extends around the lower body and continues through to the interior. Multiple impact marks and bruises around the body indicate the crock was subjected to a hard impact. Additional scattered rim chips, edge nicks, glaze flakes, scratches, stains, and abrasions are present throughout. Interior shows staining and a visible continuation of the crack. Displays as marked but structural condition is compromised.
