Description

C-19608

c. mid-19th century English earthenware teapot in red transferware featuring a pastoral architectural scene with pagoda-style structures and landscape elements, paired with an ironstone waste bowl in brown transfer print depicting a similar romanticized scenic motif. The teapot has a faceted body, scrolled handle, and fitted lid with vent hole; the waste bowl is octagonal with applied side handles and a flared rim. The underside of the waste bowl bears a mark reading “Ironstone China / Udina / J. Clementson, ” indicating production by J. Clementson of Staffordshire.

Visible crazing throughout both pieces, consistent with age. The teapot lid shows minor chipping and wear at the rim and finial, along with light staining inside. The waste bowl has edge wear, discoloration, and surface staining, particularly along the base and interior. No major structural cracks observed, but overall wear is consistent with utilitarian antique use.
