Curved wooden collar box painted in two tones of green with a pastoral Dutch windmill scene framed in ornate scrollwork across the lid. The exterior features embossed floral and vine designs molded into the paint layer, complemented by a small brass clasp at the front. Originally intended to store detachable men’s collars, this piece reflects the decorative yet economical craftsmanship of late Victorian dress accessories-likely produced for middle-class use in Europe. The interior and underside retain their original aged paper lining with fine crackle patterning.
Shows surface wear, paint loss at edges, and craquelure to paper consistent with age and handling.
