Lot 63:
Description
C-15809
This small wooden dresser features the distinctive geometric carvings and incised floral motifs characteristic of the Eastlake style, popular from the late 19th to early 20th century. The piece includes a beveled rectangular mirror set within a tall backboard, flanked by carved detailing along the crest rail. Below, three drawers are fitted with simple brass pulls, reflecting the style’s emphasis on understated hardware. This type of miniature dresser was likely designed as a child’s bedroom furnishing or a salesman’s sample during the late Victorian period, circa 1880s-1900s.
Mirror shows age-related clouding and loss to silvering. Wood exhibits surface wear, scratches, and finish loss consistent with age and use. Some lower drawer misalignment noted.
