Description

C-18006

c. 1900s; The Pittsburgh Lamp, Brass & Glass Company – Pittsburgh, PA Porcelain ewer with hand-painted floral sprays in red and white over a warm orange ground, mounted with elaborate cast metal fittings. The ornate handle and foot are richly decorated in rococo-inspired scrollwork, while the spout bears a detailed embossed face framed by foliate designs-an interpretation of the "Green Man" motif commonly used in decorative arts of the period. The Pittsburgh Lamp, Brass & Glass Company, founded in 1884, was a prolific American manufacturer of lighting and decorative wares, noted for blending fine glass and ceramic bodies with elaborate metal mounts. This piece reflects their ability to merge utility with ornamental artistry, catering to the Victorian taste for richly adorned household objects.

Shows moderate paint wear to the floral decoration; oxidation and patina are visible on the metal mounts, particularly along the foot and spout.
