Description
C-18375
c. 1978; Gorham – Japan (From The Gift World of Gorham) Hand-painted porcelain figurine titled "Self-Portrait, " inspired by Norman Rockwell’s iconic Saturday Evening Post cover painting from February 13, 1960. The figure depicts Rockwell himself seated before a mirror, sketching his own likeness on a large easel surrounded by small reference clippings. Produced by Gorham under official license, this 1978 release remains one of the most recognizable and sought-after pieces in the Rockwell figurine line. Gorham, a historic American company founded in Providence, Rhode Island, was best known for its silverwork before expanding into high-quality collectible porcelain. Their Rockwell series translated famous Saturday Evening Post covers into three-dimensional, hand-finished works, each made in Japan for exceptional detail and glaze quality.
Presents very well overall. The artist’s pipe has broken off and is missing; otherwise excellent with bright coloration and minimal wear.
