Description
C-18364
1974; Gorham Manufacturing Co. – Providence, R.I. Hand-painted porcelain figurine titled "The Weigh-In, " inspired by Norman Rockwell’s Saturday Evening Post cover painting from June 28, 1958. The piece depicts a lively scene between a jockey standing on a scale and a trainer leaning in with anticipation, both captured in Rockwell’s signature humorous realism. Produced by Gorham under official license, the figurine reflects the precision and quality associated with their mid-century collectible series. Founded in Providence, Rhode Island in 1831, Gorham was renowned for fine silver before expanding into porcelain artistry. Their Rockwell-inspired line of the 1970s-80s reimagined the artist’s most beloved Saturday Evening Post covers in detailed sculptural form, hand-painted and finished in Japan.
Excellent overall condition with light shelf wear to the base and no visible chips, cracks, or paint loss.
