c. 1934-1942; Eastman Kodak Company – Rochester, New York This Kodak Six-16 Brownie Junior box camera was produced between 1934 and 1942 by the Eastman Kodak Company. Designed for 616 roll film, it features a pressed geometric Art Deco faceplate with dual viewfinders and a central fixed-focus meniscus lens. The Brownie line was originally introduced in 1900, revolutionizing photography by making it affordable and accessible to the general public. The Six-16 Junior was part of this legacy, offering amateur photographers a reliable and stylish option during the Depression era.
The leatherette-covered body retains its original handle embossed with "Six-16 Brownie Junior" and side-mounted winding knob. The exterior shows moderate wear, with scuffing and handle wear present, while the interior remains exceptionally clean-indicating very light or possibly unused condition.
