Lot 249:
Description
C-17621
c. 1910s; Jacobs Holtzinger & Co. – Windsor, PA This wooden cigar box was produced for the King Polly brand, with its title and design registered by Jacobs Holtzinger & Co. on July 29, 1910. The interior lid features a brightly colored lithograph of a parrot perched on a branch, alongside the slogan "A Cigar That Talks For Itself." The use of vivid animal mascots was a hallmark of early 20th-century cigar branding, designed to catch the consumer’s eye and stand out in crowded tobacconist displays. The box is labeled "Perfecto" on the front and retains original printed side panels and a partial green tax stamp.
Exterior wear and edge losses are present, consistent with age and handling, while the interior label remains strikingly vibrant. A fine example of early American cigar advertising art.
