Description

C-17627

This long-handled ceremonial or parade candle lighter was manufactured by Houchin and Diamond, two American makers of ecclesiastical and ceremonial equipment. Measuring nearly 30" in length, the tool features a turned wooden handle, dual metal tubes, and an angled wick lighter at the end stamped "Houchin" and "Diamond." Such lighters were commonly used in churches, fraternal orders, and parades for safely lighting candles or torches.

The piece shows age patina with surface oxidation on the metal and wear to the handle, though structurally complete with remnants of wick still present. Its form reflects both utilitarian design and its association with ceremonial display.
