Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 498:
Description
C-19591
Assorted grooming accessories from a traditional home shaving or dressing table setup. The grouping includes a round handheld vanity mirror with faux woodgrain handle and black rimmed glass, a pair of metal hair clippers, two vintage double-edge safety razors with patinated brass handles, and a period box of Permedge concave razor blades marked “50 for 98¢.” Together the pieces reflect the everyday tools of early-to-mid twentieth century grooming, when manual razors and mechanical clippers were standard fixtures in both home bathrooms and barbershops.
The clippers feature a spring-loaded hand mechanism typical of early barbering tools, while the safety razors show the classic open-comb guard design used with replaceable double-edge blades. The Permedge blade box provides a period retail reference, highlighting the era when disposable blades were marketed in economical bulk packs. The handheld mirror’s woodgrain handle and simple round form suggest use as a dressing-table or shaving mirror.
Shows age-related wear including oxidation and patination on metal surfaces, light wear to the mirror frame, and general surface wear throughout consistent with age and use. Blade box shows handling wear.
