Square lithographed tobacco tin featuring a bold bird illustration above large “RED J” lettering across the lid. Warm sepia and ochre tones dominate the design, with the bird perched on a branch, rendered in a naturalistic style typical of early advertising graphics. Side panel includes printed opening instructions reading “Apply key here to open package, ” referencing the original wind-key band system used to break the factory seal.
Shows heavy surface wear including oxidation, edge rust, finish loss along lid seam, scattered spotting, and overall patina consistent with age and storage. Graphics remain visible despite wear. Key and original band not present.
