1938; Charlie McCarthy Inc./Whitman Publishing Co. – New York Colorful lithographed cardboard game can featuring ventriloquist Edgar Bergen and his famed dummy Charlie McCarthy. The front reads “4 Games of Chance and Skill – A Can Full of Fun, ” while the reverse boldly advertises “Edgar Bergen’s and Charlie McCarthy’s Flying Hats.” Graphics show Charlie in his monocle and top hat against a playful starburst background. The original contents are partially present, including small colored pegs, lettered dice blocks, and red cardboard launching pieces. The metal lid remains with surface oxidation, and the cylindrical paper body retains its period teal and orange color palette.
Shows notable wear including paper label cracking, finish loss, edge fraying to the cardboard rim, rust to the metal lid, and general surface scuffing. Contents appear incomplete and are sold as found.
