Flow blue rectangular cake plate in the "Touraine" pattern.
This semi-porcelain serving plate by Henry Alcock & Co. is formed with scalloped edges and a squared, almost rectangular profile. Decorated in the "Touraine" pattern, cobalt floral transfers are softened into the body through the flow blue process, framed by a bold cobalt border with traces of gilt accenting the rim. Plates of this shape were often used for cakes or small pastries, offering both function and decorative flourish at the Victorian tea table. Stamped beneath with the Alcock shield crest and "Touraine" mark.
