c. 1900s-1910s; Neostyle Sales Agency – New York, USA This early stencil duplicator, the Rotary Neostyle No. 8-F, was produced by the Neostyle Sales Agency of New York in the early 20th century. Neostyle was one of the pioneering names in duplicating technology, offering machines that allowed schools, businesses, and offices to make multiple copies quickly before the advent of modern photocopying. The machine features a geared rotary drum with inking mechanism, hand-crank operation, and a wooden base. A brass maker’s plate lists multiple U.S. patents between 1903 and 1909, firmly situating its manufacture in the first decade of the 20th century. The original curved black metal carrying case, stenciled in gilt lettering, accompanies the piece.
The duplicator shows age wear, surface scuffing, and paint loss, but remains mechanically intact and displays well as an early office machine.
