c. 1920s-1930s; John Dewar & Sons Ltd. – Perth, Scotland Ceramic advertising match holder featuring a globe of "The World" supported by two white whisky bottles, mounted on a ribbed blue base bearing the "DEWAR" name in raised lettering. The bottles are inscribed with "White Label, " referencing Dewar’s most famous blend, first introduced in 1899. The piece functioned both as a practical match holder and as striking point-of-sale advertising, designed to sit prominently on a bar or counter. John Dewar & Sons, founded in Perth in 1846, quickly rose to prominence in the Scotch whisky industry, becoming one of the first companies to widely blend and export Scotch. Their "White Label" remains among the most internationally recognized whisky brands.
Shows age-appropriate wear, including surface discoloration to the ceramic and minor edge marks to the base, but remains structurally sound with strong color and legible graphics.
