c. 1940s-1950s; Akron Brass Manufacturing Co. – Wooster, OH Heavy cast-brass and steel fire hose valve manufactured by Akron Brass under their Style 2608 designation. The piece features a red-painted body with a polished chrome control lever and threaded inlet. Akron Brass, founded in 1918 in Akron, Ohio (later relocated to Wooster), became a leading name in firefighting equipment, producing valves, nozzles, and fittings renowned for their durability and precision machining. This valve’s industrial form-functional yet visually striking-captures the robust engineering typical of mid century American fire service hardware.
Retains original red paint with scattered surface wear and oxidation; handle mechanism moves smoothly.
