Description

C-19120

Framed pair consisting of a Max Bohm art print and a hand-tinted studio portrait of a young woman in white. The Bohm image—signed and dated 1919 in the original painting—depicts a dark-haired woman in three-quarter view against a radiating teal ground, dressed in a soft rose garment and holding white blossoms. The verso bears the printed notation: “Printed by The Medici Society, Ltd. Copyright 1921, Library of Congress, ” confirming its early licensed reproduction. The companion portrait shows a full-length young woman posed before a painted interior backdrop with rich green drapery and carved balustrade. Both are presented in substantial gilt wood frames—the Bohm print in a stepped gilt molding, and the other in a more elaborate molded floral and scroll frame.

Both frames show surface wear including scuffs, finish rubbing, and minor edge loss. The choir portrait exhibits visible surface cracking and small tears within the image area, particularly toward the lower portion. The Bohm print shows mild surface haze consistent with age. Overall condition appropriate to period display.
