c. early 20th century; artist unknown Oil on board painting depicting a lakeside scene with a sailboat docked near a shoreline structure and a seated figure in the foreground. Executed with loose, expressive brushwork and visible texture, particularly in the sky and foliage. Soft palette of blues, greens, and earth tones. Housed in a decorative gilt wood frame with textured inner molding. Reverse shows a handwritten inscription, not fully legible.
Shows moderate wear consistent with age, including surface dirt, minor paint loss, and light abrasions. Frame shows wear and finish loss. Backing exhibits age-related wear and staining. SIgned on back "Morely Hicks". Glass in tact. Displays well overall.
