Charming ceramic "still bank" (no removable opening; coins can be only retrieved by breaking the bank, or through the top slot) is finished in a rich brown glaze with subtle tonal variations highlighting the molded features. The form is compact and well-proportioned, with neatly defined eyes, snout, and legs, and a single coin slot along the back. Its lustrous glaze and simple, handmade character embody the utilitarian yet endearing style of interwar Central European ceramics. During the early 20th century, Czechoslovakia became a significant exporter of fine ceramics and decorative pottery, with regional kilns producing both art pottery and household wares known for their craftsmanship and distinctive glazes.
Light surface wear and minor glaze imperfections consistent with age; no cracks or repairs noted. Note: Only opening is the top slot, there is no "bottom plug."
