Description

C-18107

c. 1899-1918; Oscar & Edgar Gutherz – Altrohlau, Bohemia (Austria) Set of six scalloped porcelain plates by Oscar & Edgar Gutherz (OEEG) under the Royal Austria mark, each hand-painted with autumnal botanical scenes featuring chestnut leaves, acorns, and seed pods against a soft amber-to-cream gradient ground. The rims are finished in deep rust red with subtle gilt accents, framing the naturalistic florals in the Art Nouveau style. The combination of painterly shading and delicate contouring reflects the turn-of-the-century decorative porcelain tradition prominent in Bohemian and Austrian studios. The Gutherz brothers operated in Altrohlau, Austria (now Stará Role, Czech Republic), from 1899 until the early 20th century, producing finely detailed porcelain tablewares and decorative art pieces that rivaled contemporaries such as Haviland and Rosenthal in quality and craftsmanship.

Light surface wear and minor gilding loss from age; no cracks or repairs observed.
