Lot 225:
Description
C-18014
Grouping of three original lithographed cigar tins: Spana-Cuba by Yocum Bros., Class Honeycomb by Parker & Gordon, and Charles Denby Cigars by H. Fendrich, Evansville, Indiana. Each tin displays period-accurate lithography with strong color retention and bold typography. The Spana-Cuba tin shows a classical female portrait surrounded by laurels; the Parker & Gordon’s Class tin features a striking mustard-yellow field with raised lettering promising "Workmanship & Quality"; and the Charles Denby example bears a formal portrait medallion of its namesake. These tins not only served as packaging but as tabletop advertising, showcasing the competitive branding strategies of early 20th-century American cigar manufacturers.
Surface wear, oxidation, and scratching are visible across all examples, with scattered paint loss and age patina. The tins remain structurally sound with hinged lids intact.
