Description
C-18018
c. 1920s-1930s; Davies-Young Soap Co. – Dayton, OH & International Supply Co. – Cambridge, MA Pair of one-pound lithographed tins for Whiz Soap, a popular early 20th-century household and industrial cleaner. Both tins are decorated in bold red with oversized block lettering and black borders, reading simply "WHIZ SOAP." The reverse panels provide usage instructions, one attributed to the Davies-Young Soap Co. of Dayton, Ohio, and the other to the International Supply Co. of Cambridge, Massachusetts. These dual examples highlight the widespread distribution and licensing of Whiz Soap branding during the interwar years.
Both tins show surface wear, paint loss, and oxidation with scattered dents from handling and use. Lettering remains legible and the overall forms are structurally intact.
