Lot 85:
Toon Willemsen Swiss Winter Landscape Oil
Description
C-22350
Large oil on canvas by Toon Willemsen (Dutch, 1937–2015), depicting an atmospheric winter lake landscape with a moored skiff, waterfowl, bare tree, and snow-covered mountains. Executed with areas of heavy impasto and signed “Toon Willemsen” lower left. Identified as Swiss Landscape – Winter and marked “Made in Holland.”
c. Mid-to-late 20th century; Toon Willemsen – Netherlands
Canvas shows scattered surface wear, staining, small areas of paint loss, and a small puncture near the upper right. Pronounced waviness and uneven tension are visible across the canvas from both the front and reverse; the distortion is clearly noticeable in person from the front but does not reproduce well in photographs. Some areas of the canvas have pulled away from the staples, with localized tearing around several staple points causing partial separation from the stretcher. Please refer to photos regarding condition.
