Lot 83:
Description
C-22348
Oil on canvas depicting a Transylvanian village scene with figures, geese, rustic houses, and a distant church steeple. The reverse bears the penciled inscription “Erdélyi ház és kapu, 55 x 70 cm, ” translating approximately to “Transylvanian House and Gate, ” along with a Hungarian export approval stamp, “Kivitelre Engedélyezve M.N.G., ” likely referring to the Magyar Nemzeti Galéria (Hungarian National Gallery).
Canvas shows scattered surface wear and areas of discoloration. Reverse has spotting and staining, including areas along the left side that appear consistent with mildew. Frame is sturdy with extensive finish loss and actively flaking paint, particularly along the right and lower edges. Please refer to photos regarding condition.
