Description
C-22340
Original 1985 work on paper by R. Blanchard, depicting a boldly colored central figure surrounded by a bird, animal, teepee-like form, and abstract imagery. This is believed to be a product of French artist Rémy Blanchard (1958–1993). Blanchard was associated with the French Figuration Libre (Free Figuration) movement of the 1980s, known for its vivid color, deliberately naive imagery, and influences from comics, popular culture, folk art, and graffiti. Signed and dated lower left “R. Blanchard XII 85.” Executed in gouache or acrylic on paper, float mounted against a black fabric mat and presented under plexiglass in a black frame.
Artwork appears in good overall condition with light handling or age-related wear visible along the deckled paper edges. Black fabric mat shows minor surface debris. Plexiglass has scratches and surface wear. Frame is sturdy with scattered scuffs, chips, scratches, and staining.
