Lot 92:
Description
C-21407
c. 1930s-1950s; Firestone Tire and Rubber Company – Akron, OH
Original porcelain enamel sign letters spelling “Firestone, ” originally mounted to a dealership, service station, tire store, or commercial advertising sign. Each individual letter is formed from heavy-gauge steel and finished in white porcelain enamel, retaining the distinctive Gothic-style typography long associated with the Firestone brand. The reverse retains the original mounting studs and hardware used to affix the letters to a larger sign structure.
Exhibits moderate wear consistent with outdoor use and age. Porcelain surfaces show scattered chips, scratches, edge wear, oxidation around mounting points, and isolated areas of enamel loss exposing the underlying steel. Reverse surfaces exhibit expected oxidation and weathering. Despite the wear, the letters retain strong gloss and display exceptionally well with desirable age-related character.
19” L x 0.5” W x 23.25” H when assembled
