Description

C-21780

Pair of brass central-draft oil lamps converted for electric use, with milk glass shades and overlarge clear glass chimneys. The lot includes two different Edward Miller & Company models: one marked The New Juno No. 2 and one marked Miller’s Vestal. Introduced during the late 19th century, the Juno and Vestal lines were among Edward Miller & Company’s principal central-draft kerosene lamps. Production of these lamps date to the 1880s – 1900s.

The milk glass shades and glass chimneys show no visible chips or cracks. The prongs on one lamp have been bent outward in an apparent attempt to accommodate the oversized chimney. The less ornate lamp has a small but noticeable dent to the brass font and evidence of an old repair at the base. Both lamps exhibit scattered scratches, tarnish, oxidation, and finish wear consistent with age and use. Lamps were both tested and worked at time of photographing, bulbs are not included, sold as is.
