Description
21221
c. 1950s; American Machine & Foundry – Brooklyn, New York City
Classic mid-century Roadmaster Luxury Liner bicycle featuring the streamlined styling that made balloon-tire bicycles of the postwar era so iconic. Finished in red and black with embossed “Roadmaster” tank panels, the bicycle retains its distinctive Luxury Liner chain guard, springer front fork, integrated tank-mounted headlight, rear carrier rack, and whitewall tires. Decorative tank graphics remain visible, including the Roadmaster panther emblem, while the bicycle has acquired additional period-style decals over its lifetime. The seat is presently fitted with a later padded cover and an American flag cloth draped over the rear rack.
Roadmaster was one of America’s best-known bicycle brands during the twentieth century, producing millions of bicycles through the Arnold, Schwinn & Co.-owned Cleveland Welding Company and later American Machine & Foundry.
Shows wear consistent with age and outdoor use including paint loss, scratches, oxidation, rust spotting, decal wear, and general surface grime throughout. Headlight lens is cracked and requires repair. Bicycle has not been mechanically tested and is being offered as a display or restoration candidate. Some accessories and decorative elements appear to be later additions.
