Description

Small-scale cabinet in traditional Chinese form, finished in a timeworn red lacquer with hand-painted decorative scenes now softened and partially worn through use. The façade features a pair of paneled doors fitted with large circular brass plates and drop pulls, flanked by matching butterfly hinges-classic hardware elements associated with regional cabinetry. The black-painted top contrasts with the red body and shows heavy wear, reinforcing its utilitarian past. Interior reveals a compact arrangement with two small drawers above open cubby storage, while the side panel conceals a hidden compartment-an uncommon and compelling feature that speaks to both function and intrigue. The painted panels inside the doors retain delicate floral motifs, offering a quieter decorative counterpoint to the heavily weathered exterior.

Shows heavy, authentic wear throughout including significant paint loss, chipping and abrasion to edges, especially at the legs and top. Surface wear and finish degradation consistent with age and use. Interior remains structurally sound with visible wear. Hidden compartment functions as intended.
