Description

C-21816

c. 1950s–1960s; Westmoreland Glass Company – Grapeville, PA

Milk glass pedestal compote in Westmoreland’s popular Paneled Grape pattern, featuring alternating molded grape clusters and foliate motifs around the exterior. The bowl is formed with a scalloped rim, paneled body, and octagonal pedestal foot, all executed in opaque white milk glass with a glossy finish. Produced during the mid-twentieth century, the Paneled Grape line included a variety of serving and decorative forms intended for both everyday table settings and display. The crisp molded relief and clean silhouette made the pattern a lasting favorite among collectors of American milk glass.

Displays light age-related wear with scattered surface scratches and minor shelf wear to the underside of the foot. A visible mold seam/manufacturing imperfection is present in the body of the bowl and is original to the production process rather than a crack. The rim and foot were carefully examined, and no chips, cracks, or repairs were observed. The glass retains an even glossy finish with only minor evidence of handling and use.
