Description
C-21646
c. 1910s–1920s; Buckeye Pottery Co. – Macomb, Illinois
Salt-glazed stoneware storage crock decorated with a cobalt blue “10” capacity mark above the Blue Ribbon Brand ribbon logo. The mark identifies the crock as a product of Buckeye Pottery Co. of Macomb, Illinois, a well-known American manufacturer of utilitarian stoneware used for food storage, pickling, brining, and preservation. The crock features a heavy rolled rim, cylindrical form, and smooth salt-glazed finish typical of early 20th-century production.
Shows light to moderate age-related wear consistent with use. Surface exhibits scattered glaze imperfections, minor staining, light scratches, and expected manufacturing irregularities including kiln pitting. A few small chips are present around the underside of the foot rim, with minor flea bites and wear to the rolled rim. The Blue Ribbon decoration remains well preserved with expected light fading. No major cracks or structural repairs observed.
