*2-Day* Fresh Barn Finds & Country Estate Auction (Day 1/2)
Lot 49:
Description
C-18838
Assorted group of three antique kitchen tools used for food preparation and processing. The group includes a hand-cranked metal food mill with perforated strainer base and turned wooden handle, a hinged wire potato ricer or press with triangular basket and long iron handles, and a cylindrical metal butter churn dasher or plunger with looped grip and threaded end. Each piece reflects practical, pre-electric kitchen technology intended for daily household use. Materials include aluminum or tin-plated steel, wrought or stamped iron, and wood, with construction emphasizing durability and mechanical simplicity. The forms are consistent with tools used for puréeing vegetables, ricing potatoes, and churning or agitating dairy products before widespread adoption of electric appliances.
All pieces show visible wear consistent with age and use, including surface oxidation, finish loss, discoloration, and patina. Wooden handles show wear and paint loss. No testing performed; sold as a group.
