Lot 475:
Description
C-20432
c. 1900s/1910s; Moon Lock Company – Newark, NJ Heavy cast iron padlock featuring a rounded body with riveted construction and a thick, integral shackle. The front is fitted with a pivoting/sliding keyhole cover plate, clearly stamped “MOON” within a circular cartouche, identifying the maker. The lock retains its original darkened surface with areas of worn paint and oxidation, particularly along the lower edge where remnants of green paint are still visible. The body shows subtle casting irregularities and hammering marks, consistent with early industrial production methods.
Shows heavy age and use including surface oxidation, pitting, and paint loss. Keyhole cover functions and rotates as intended; lock is untested and no key is present.
