c. early 1900s; Chicago Biscuit Company – Chicago, IL Single wooden crate side panel with finger-jointed ends and stenciled advertising reading “Quality Our Motto” and promoting crackers and biscuits produced by the Chicago Biscuit Company. Black stenciled lettering remains visible across the face, with original promotional language encouraging customers to “Ask Your Grocer For Them.” Constructed from a single board with exposed joinery at the ends, typical of early shipping crate construction where panels were assembled into full wooden boxes for transport and display.
Shows moderate to heavy wear consistent with age and use, including surface wear, darkening, and areas of staining. Lettering shows fading but remains readable. Edges exhibit wear and minor losses, with visible nail holes and handling marks throughout. Structurally stable as a display piece.
