c. 1910s; East Prospect Cigar Co. – East Prospect, PA Painted and lithographed tin countertop cigar display tray advertising Havana Fives cigars at the five-cent price point. The form features gently arched sides and bold, high-contrast typography reading "Havana Fives 5¢ Genuine Sumatra Wrapper, " designed to catch the eye at point-of-sale counters. Maker information for East Prospect Cigar Co. is prominently printed along the lower band, anchoring the piece firmly in early 20th-century American cigar retail culture. The interior retains its original tin surface, showing honest wear from use while remaining structurally sound. East Prospect Cigar Co. operated during the height of America’s cigar boom, when small regional manufacturers relied heavily on vivid lithography and durable tin displays to compete for attention in crowded tobacco shops and general stores.
