c. 1940s/1950s; Babson Bros. Co. – Chicago, IL Orange-painted metal case labeled inside lid "Surge Milk & Vacuum Hose Cleaning Kit, " complete with printed parts diagram and size listings for couplings, brushes, burrs, and threaded rods. The fitted interior compartments retain a few of the original components including threaded rods (45 in., threaded both ends). In addition as part of later usage, generic hardware has been added, making use of compartmentalized space including hex bolts, metal collars, spacers, springs, and a padlock. A cloth patch with "Tonganoxie" is also present within the kit box. Twin front latches and integrated carry handle remain intact. Surge, a division of Babson Bros. Co., was a leading manufacturer of dairy equipment in the 20th century.
Wear consistent with agricultural use, including paint loss and surface oxidation to the case interior and hardware. Paper label shows age toning and minor staining; parts appear used but functional. Structurally sound with working latches and handle.
