Wooden roller skate carrying case featuring hand-applied nailhead lettering reading "Queens Roller Rink" on one side and "JOE" on the opposite panel. The case is constructed with dark-stained wood panels, reinforced edges, metal corner hardware, and a leather carry handle. Nailhead personalization of this type was a common practice among rink skaters, serving both as ownership identification and as a visual association with a specific local rink. Historical advertising and period ephemera document Queens Roller Rink as a major recreational venue in Elmhurst, Long Island, accessed via subway and streetcar lines, and promoted as a modern, social skating destination. Personalized cases such as this would have been used for transporting skates to and from the rink, reflecting the communal and repeat-use nature of roller skating culture in the early 20th century. The case contains a pair of vintage leather quad roller skates with stitched uppers, metal trucks, and wooden wheels. The skates exhibit construction consistent with early rink-era equipment, designed for indoor hardwood floors and frequent use.
