Oct. 28th, 1893; W. B. Conkey Company – Chicago Large illustrated portfolio titled "Sights and Scenes of the World – A Series of Magnificent Photographic Views Embracing the World of Nature and Art." Published as People’s Series No. 1 and issued weekly, the cover bears a globe vignette and a detailed engraving of a large telescope with figures observing the sky. The reverse promotes "The World’s Congress of Religions, " held in Chicago under the auspices of the World’s Columbian Exposition, positioning the publication within the broader cultural context of the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. Interior pages feature mounted photographic plates with printed descriptive captions beneath, including architectural and landscape views such as European palaces and cityscapes.
