c. 1920s/1930s; George C. Buell & Co., Inc. – Rochester, NY One-pound lithographed coffee tin labeled "Buell’s Brighton Blend – Dry Roasted Coffee – Merit That’s All." The cream ground is accented with red and blue typography and a central vignette of a woman holding a steaming cup, framed by stylized geometric borders. Side panels include brewing instructions for common pot, percolator, and tricolator use, along with "Our Steel Cut Coffee is Correct for Percolator or Pot." The lid is stamped "Steel Cut, " and the can retains its original cylindrical form with rolled rim and crimped base. Produced by George C. Buell & Co., roasters and packers of grade coffees in Rochester, New York, this tin reflects early 20th century grocery packaging when bold color lithography served as both branding and instruction. The Brighton Blend name references the Rochester suburb of Brighton, tying the product to regional identity while maintaining national-style advertising appeal.
Patina present throughout, with surface wear to the lithography, edge oxidation to the lid, and minor rust spotting along the bottom and interior. Structurally intact with strong graphics remaining legible.
