c. 1940s-1960s; John Maddock & Sons, Ltd. – England Eight-piece English porcelain tea service consisting of four teacups and four matching saucers by John Maddock & Sons, Ltd., marked "Maddock – Made in England." Each cup and saucer features a continuous floral garland motif in soft pinks, blues, yellows, and greens, bordered by delicate geometric banding in teal and gold; this is known as Madden’s "Ming" pattern and is similar to one of the same name by Coal Port. The warm ivory ground and fine gilt rim accents give the set a balanced mid-century refinement while retaining traditional English decorative sensibilities. The cups present a gently flared form with small loop handles and interior floral sprigs near the rim. The saucers mirror the outer garland decoration with a structured circular border framing the cup well. The decoration is transfer-based with crisp linework and layered color application, characteristic of post-war English ceramic production intended for everyday yet elegant tea service.
Condition is good vintage condition with light surface wear and minor gilt loss along rim edges. No major cracks or structural damage observed. All pieces present well as a cohesive set.
