C-14265

c. 1920s-1930s; Canco (American Can Co.) – United States Colorfully lithographed tin nursery pail with nursery rhyme illustration and swing handle. Produced by the American Can Company during the 1920s-30s, this pressed tin pail features a vibrant wraparound depiction of the classic rhyme "The Queen of Hearts." The whimsical scene shows the Queen preparing tarts in a cozy kitchen, while the Knave of Hearts darts away with a stolen pie. A comic-style panel contains the familiar verse: "The Queen of Hearts made some tarts All on a summer’s day, The Knave of Hearts he stole the tarts And then he ran away." Executed in bold greens, oranges, and yellows, the lithography remains richly detailed despite age-earned patina. Fitted with a wire swing handle, this small pail is a charming survivor from the golden age of American tin toys and printed children’s goods.

There is some damage across the field, and the lid is missing. Please refer to photos regarding condition.
