This is an original 1936 Republican presidential campaign badge featuring Alf Landon’s portrait in a bright sunflower celluloid button-his well-known campaign symbol. The badge includes red, white, and blue ribbon streamers and a hanging elephant charm, the classic emblem of the GOP. Alf Landon, Governor of Kansas, ran as the Republican nominee against Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1936 United States Presidential election. Known for his "Sunflower State" roots, Landon’s campaign used the sunflower as a prominent logo throughout his election bid. Though he lost in a historic landslide, original campaign items like this remain highly collectible for their colorful designs and Depression-era political history.
Shows age-appropriate wear with minor surface soiling, fraying on ribbon ends, and light discoloration consistent with age and storage.
