General Antiques and Collectibles Spring Auction
Lot 215:
Description
C-17799
Clear pressed glass coffee jar with vertical ribbing and an embossed shield-style medallion reading "COFFEE" at center. The jar retains its threaded metal screw lid and shows two prominent vertical seams along with characteristic bubbles and imperfections from its manufacture. These details point to utilitarian hand-pressed glass production techniques common in mid-20th century India. Sturdy and practical, jars like this were widely used for dry goods storage, both in household pantries and general stores. The bold COFFEE embossing gives it crossover appeal as both advertising glassware and kitchenware collectible.
Light surface wear and patina to lid; glass shows bubbles, mold lines, and irregularities consistent with age and origin. No major cracks or chips observed.
4.25 dia and 8" H
