Lot 198:
Description
C-17655
c. 1960s/1970s; Sterling Plastics, Inc. – Mountainside, NJ This mid-20th century slide rule was produced by Sterling Plastics, a leading American manufacturer of mathematical and drafting instruments. The plastic slide rule features printed logarithmic scales for multiplication, division, roots, and trigonometric functions, with a clear cursor window. Marked "Sterling Student" and "Made in Japan", it was distributed widely for school and professional use during the postwar years. Included with the rule are its original black case and printed instruction sheet titled "Sterling Slide Rule Operating Instructions: A Quality Instrument for Student or Professional."
The case shows wear and surface loss, while the rule itself remains clean and legible. Together, they represent a classic mid century learning tool that predated the rise of handheld calculators.
