c. 1940s-1950s; Walter S. Cole – Beaver, Wisconsin Green-painted tin bait box with cream label marked "BOB-BET BAIT BOX – Just half a turn and there’s your worm – Manufactured by Walter S. Cole, Beaver, Wis." The cylindrical container is mounted on a flat base with a rotating mechanism that dispenses bait with a simple half-turn. Intended to strap to a belt, this clever device allowed anglers to access worms quickly and efficiently without fumbling in the middle of fishing. Walter S. Cole, operating out of Beaver, Wisconsin, marketed the Bob-Bet line of bait boxes throughout the mid-20th century, earning a reputation among American anglers for practical, affordable fishing accessories.
Displays surface wear and paint loss from age and use, though the graphics remain strong and the rotating mechanism functional.
