C-17802

c. 1940s; Carmel-Hollywood Films – U.S.A. Original 16mm boxing film reel in its printed box, issued by Carmel-Hollywood Films. Reel contains fight footage of Joe Louis versus Jersey Joe Walcott, one of the era’s most famous heavyweight rivalries. The two men clashed twice in title bouts (1947 and 1948), both drawing enormous public attention as Joe Louis defended his heavyweight championship against Walcott’s unorthodox style. The reel is housed on a period cardboard spool, with film stock still present and box graphics depicting a bold glove design. Such reels were marketed to collectors and fight fans eager to relive iconic matches before the widespread availability of televised sports.

Box shows wear with surface soiling, edge wear, and handling creases. Reel retains original film but condition of playback has not been tested.

Box: 4.25" W x 4.25" D x 1" H
