C-17893

c. 1940s/1950s; Louis Marx & Co. – New York, NY Tin and metal railroad accessory by Louis Marx & Co., designed as a switch light beacon for use with Marx train layouts. The piece features a perforated tower with domed base, topped by a rotating beacon housing fitted with a clear lens bulb. This accessory added realism and visual animation to mid-century O-gauge and tinplate train sets. Louis Marx & Co., founded in 1919, was one of the most prolific American toy manufacturers of the 20th century, producing everything from wind-up tin toys to expansive electric train systems. Their railroad line included numerous trackside structures and lighting accessories, prized today by collectors for their durable construction and nostalgic design.

Shows surface wear and scuffing to painted surfaces, with age-darkening to tower and base. Light fixture intact but untested.
