Lot 125:
Description
C-20072
Wrought iron hanging lantern featuring a rectangular cage form with twisted iron uprights and elaborate scrolled cresting above and below. The body is fitted with amber textured glass panels that diffuse light into a warm, subdued glow, accented by small circular jewel-like inserts set into opposing sides. The frame is constructed with hand-worked iron elements including spiral twists, riveted joints, and symmetrical foliate scrollwork, giving the piece a distinctly Gothic Revival character. Suspended from a short chain and canopy, the lantern retains a single interior socket centered within the enclosure.
Shows moderate surface wear including oxidation, finish loss, and age-consistent patina across the iron framework. Glass panels appear intact with no major cracks observed. Interior socket present and functional at time of testing.
